Camp Hawkeye is a small overnight camp for ALL HUMANS ages 7 - 17 with a commitment to creating a diverse community. With 70 campers and 35 staff Hawkeye is perfect for first time campers of any age. Hawkeye includes campers and staff from a variety of social, ethnic, economic, religious, and geographic backgrounds as well as across the gender spectrum.
Hawkeye is different; with the feel of family and the healthy experience of the outdoors, Camp Hawkeye uses the joy and fun of camp to break down social and cultural prejudices, misconceptions and barriers. Camp Hawkeye is an organization with a mission and it’s not to fill beds or make budget projections. Jess and Garrett are committed to the community and look forward to joining you in the healthy development of your child.
Find out what we are all about by talking to us and talking to Hawkeye families. We’d love to get to know you and welcome your family into ours.
The Camp Hawkeye mission is to bridge social, economic, and cultural gaps to build positive relationships and deep mutual understanding.
Our diverse community reflects the richness of today's world! This is a core aspect of our community and the reason that Hawkeye exists; to bring together campers and staff that typically don't live, go to school, or play together.
Our small camp community of 70 campers and 35 staff is perfect for first time campers.
We teach leadership with thoughtfully designed and intentionally built leadership opportunities.
Camp Hawkeye recognizes that gender identity exists on a spectrum and the Hawkeye Community welcomes people of all genders. At Hawkeye we do have binary gendered sleeping areas. We ask that everyone - campers, CiT's, JC's and staff - select a sleeping area that most closely matches their gender identity. We further ask that everyone in the Hawkeye community respects the gender identity of each other. This includes sleeping area selection, names, and pronouns.
