CABIN LIFE

YOUR HOME AWAY FROM HOME

COMFORTABLE CABINS

The bunks are classic wooden cabins with screened windows and an open floor plan. Each one has its own unique character. Between 6 and 8 campers and 2 staff live in each bunk, sharing the space and building a cabin identity. Each cabin has a name with a story to go along; Meadowview, Brookside Lounge, JaDoon and Booger Hollow are just a few.

Cabins have electricity for lights, though we do not bring electronics to camp (no phones, video games, tablets, e-readers, or anything else you would plug into an outlet for power).  Everyone sleeps in bunk beds (counselors too!) and it's up to you whether you want a top or bottom bunk.

CABIN AREAS

At Hawkeye we do have binary gendered sleeping areas. We ask that everyone - campers, CiT's, JC's and staff - select a sleeping area that most closely matches their gender identity. There are two different sleeping areas in camp, one for male cabin groups and one for female cabin groups.  Both are built around a central campfire area and showerhouse. These private smaller community areas within camp foster great connections, especially during daily un-programmed downtime after lunch and during cabin time at night.

CLEAN, FRESH SHOWERHOUSES

In each cabin area, there is a showerhouse with private toilet stalls, individual showers with private changing areas, sinks, and plenty of hot water. There's no need to wait to grab a shower - it's set up so everyone in the cabin can have their own space.

COUNSELORS WHO ARE "IN IT" AND WHO "GET IT"

A wonderful thing about Hawkeye is that your counselors live in the cabin with you. They play games (Magic or Yu-Gi-Oh! anyone?) and lead dance parties. They are the group's social center and are responsible for the development of the cabin's shared experience. Our counselors care about your growth and development, and they can be there with you every step of the way. Whether it's making your bed or making a friend, you've got someone to help. And, if you just want a little space, you can tell them that too. Counselors at Hawkeye are invested in you and want to help you get the most out of your experience.
